About Us
MOZAIC Women's Wellbeing Project is a domestic violence advocacy service that provides free, confidential and independent support, advice and information for women experiencing domestic violence. The project is run by 170 Community Project and is based at St. Thomas' Hospital.
At MOZAIC we will offer wrap-around, survivor led support to women survivors of Domestic Violence and their families, in what can often be a time of great vulnerability and great pain. We will act from a belief that Domestic Violence is a symptom of gender inequality and arises from the need of one human being to assert power and control over another. We believe that the essential medium of change for our clients is a relationship of trust, mutual regard and respect with an advocate, which ultimately should enable a woman to claim back control of her own life.
From the outset, we aim to establish as much as possible a joint understanding of an individual woman's situation and do this by deeply listening and helping her to unlock her fears and hopes for the past, the present and the future, by advising her of her rights and entitlements and where necessary, by asserting these rights and entitlements together with her or on behalf of her. We believe in a survivor-led, person-centred approach. We believe women are capable of acting and making decisions for themselves and we support them for as long as is necessary to enable them to act effectively and independently. We continue to be inspired by our clients and their children many of whom we have witnessed going on to live and thrive and ultimately rise above and beyond what they have experienced.
